This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the Materium mobile application ("App"). Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you consent to the practices described here.

Account and identity information:

When you sign up or sign in (via email, Apple, or Google), we receive your email address and, where provided, your name and profile picture. We use this to create and manage your account and to communicate with you.

Scan and usage data:

The App stores scan results (e.g., product name, material composition, recyclability information) on your device and may sync them to our servers so you can access your history across devices. We may also collect general usage data (e.g., feature usage, app performance) to improve the App.

Device and technical data:

We may collect device type, operating system, app version, and similar technical information to support compatibility and troubleshooting.

Subscription and payment data:

Subscription purchases are processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We do not store your payment card details. We receive from the platform (e.g., via RevenueCat) information necessary to grant you access to premium features, such as subscription status and entitlement identifiers.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to: provide, operate, and improve the App; authenticate you and manage your account; deliver scan results and premium features; process subscriptions and restore purchases; send important service or policy updates; analyze usage to improve our AI and user experience; comply with legal obligations; and protect the security and integrity of our services.

4. How We Share Your Information

We may share your information with: (a) service providers who assist us (e.g., cloud hosting, authentication, analytics, and subscription management such as RevenueCat and Supabase), under strict confidentiality and data-processing terms; (b) law enforcement or regulators when required by law or to protect our rights; and (c) in connection with a merger, sale, or restructuring of our business, with notice where required. We do not sell your personal information to third parties for their marketing.

5. Data Retention

We retain your account and scan data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the App and comply with legal obligations. If you delete your account, we will delete or anonymize your personal data in accordance with our retention policies and applicable law.

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures (including encryption and secure authentication) to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; we cannot guarantee absolute security but we work to protect your information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.

7. Your Rights and Choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to: access, correct, or delete your personal data; object to or restrict certain processing; data portability; and withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. You can manage your account and subscription (including cancellation) through the App or your device's store settings. To exercise your rights or ask questions, contact us using the support or contact options in the App or on our website. If you are in the EEA or UK, you may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

8. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13 (or the applicable age of consent in your region). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected such information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

9. International Transfers

Your information may be processed in countries other than your own. We ensure appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses or adequacy decisions) are in place where required by applicable law.
